According to Esar's Comic Dictionary, the word "diet" as been defined as: "A regimen for hunger," and as "A form of wishful shrinking."

 Fat Loss 4 Idiots
How It Works: A

First Hand Account
By David London

Over the years I have tried just about every diet known to man. I have tried (among other things), low carb diets, Atkins, calorie counting, the tubby hubby, appetite suppressants, hoodia, diet pills, protein shakes, Slim Fast, the Zone, Fit For Life, Dr. prescribed pills, fasting, starvation — you name it, I've tried it. Yeah, I've tried just about everything over the years to lose weight.

But I must admit that I hate to dieting and can seldom stay on a diet because most have (at least for me) unbearable side-effects. Because I refuse to be fat, I have managed to change my diet over the years to a more holistic approach, but that still doesn't stop me from bingeing.

Nikki insisted that I looked fine at my weight (210 pounds at 5'11"). Maybe so, but I feel so much better when I am much lighter. So my goal is almost always to lose 30 to 40 pounds. So that was in my mind as we began to seriously look at selecting another diet. I was, quite frankly, tired of all of the things I've used in the past. And so the testimonials for Fat Loss 4 Idiots caught my eye. People gave it high marks and all of the users seemed to have had quick weight loss.

One of the things that I immediately liked about this diet after I went online to purchase it was that it put me in the control seat. Yet, it still provided a pretty exact meal by meal program as well, which really appealed to me.

What Comes With The Fat Loss 4 Idiots Diet?

First of all, I was impressed with the thinking behind this diet. I spent quick a bit of time reading over the information provided on their website and it all made a lot of sense. I was quickly "sold" by the strong explanation about how weight loss works. Quite frankly, these people seemed to have it figured out. After I had the materials in my hands, I was all the more confident that this diet would work for me.

What you get with the initial program is a thorough ebook (which you can download or read online), and the Diet Generator. First, let me say that I really enjoyed reading the "Diet Handbook: Learn The Latest... Dieting Secrets." This 45-minute book is well written and it cuts to quickly to the point. You won't waste a lot of time and you'll understand the basics of the program very quickly with it.

The book actually consists of some basic concepts which you can follow, if you prefer, and not use the online Diet Generator (to create your diets for you). Some of the principles and suggestions in the book go beyond what you need to do with the regular 11-day diets that the Diet Generator will provide.

I really appreciated the basic concepts presented in this book. They explained WHY typical dieting approaches are not very effective, and how their program is different. And yes, it is very different from any diet I have ever used before. Their full explanation was impressive, innovative and convincing to my logical mind.

The Diet Generator is an online interface that you will be allowed to use once you log into the program. You can use it to create an unlimited number of diets. . . forever. They won't charge you any more to keep on using the generator to put together new diets in the future. So if you want to emphasize a different menu for yourself for you next 11 diet, you can easily do that.

The Diet Generator also has an option to create a vegetarian diet, and it can be used even if the dieter is a vegan! I generated a diet for myself (because I like a lot of veggies) but decided instead to go with a more balanced diet including meat by using the regular part of the Diet Generator.

The "Beyond Calories" Upgrade

I should mention at this point that when you check out during the ordering process, you will be given an opportunity to upgrade and obtain a second and more advanced diet plan called "Beyond Calories." I was tempted just to skip this, until I read that I would NOT be offered this plan later and there was no other way to obtain this ebook material. So I signed up for that too.

And I am very glad that I did. This is a unique (and controversial diet according to Fat Loss 4 Idiots), and it allows you to eat up to six meals a day. By eating so many meals you eliminate any possibility of hunger, because you are always just a little bit away from your next "meal."

On this 10-day diet you will lose even more weight than on the normal Diet Generator. And it gives you even MORE FREEDOM and choice over what you'll get to eat. So you definitely want to upgrade and get it. With the different diet concepts and Diet Generator, I think it is highly likely that the average person should never have the need for any other diets.

Starting My Fat Loss 4 Idiots Diet

When I finally downloaded this diet and started to read the ebooks that came with this diet, I couldn't wait to get started. This diet appeared to be exactly what I had been looking for. I was to eat four meals a day, so I knew that I would not get ravenous with hunger between meals, which definitely looked good to me.

You are given a list of foods from which you are to choose what foods you want to be added into your diet. I liked this because most diets have food on them that I just don't like. Here, I wouldn't have that problem.

The two 11-day menus that I created for myself were a little on the redundant side, but I knew I could live with that, especially knowing that I would be losing weight quickly.

Unfortunately, I could see that some of the foods we had in the house just wouldn't fit into the 11-day menu that I prepared using the Diet Generator. So I threw together my first two meals before we could run off to the market to purchase the foods I needed.

The foods we purchased were not usually "fat free" products. This diet does not restrict you to those products. I did purchase several diet drinks, which I normally don't like, but they don't discourage you from using sugar substitutes in this diet (like Equal) which I found nice.

I jumped into this diet quickly because I was so anxious to get started. But even then, I lost two or three pounds (according to how I stood on my scale, ha ha) just in the first day alone! And I know it wasn't "water weight" because I easily downed 10 glasses of water that first day alone. To see such quick results so soon really added to my motivation to stick to this diet.

What's Different With Fat Loss 4 Idiots?

I have always considered myself to be a healthy eater. I try to eat a salad every day. I usually stay away from candy and pastries and I don't eat a lot of meat. But my weight always seems to stay the same or rise slightly over the weeks and months.

For the first time in my life, what I read explained the mistakes I have been making in clear and simple language. I was able to understand WHY my weight was not going down. For the first time, I feel that I finally "got it" as far as how weight loss really works. The Fat Loss 4 Idiots approach is definitely different from anything else that I've tried.

In the past I have read enough to the basics about how metabolism works. Human metabolism has been designed to slow down when there is a scarcity of available food. This mechanism triggers the body's ability to store fat for later use. But when you eat more often, your metabolism tends to rev up to keep burning the available food, turning it into energy (not fat). Any diet that restricts food or caloric intact will likely slow down your metabolism so that you end up adding a lot more of your food into body fat.

The basic idea behind the Fat Loss 4 Idiots diet is to help your metabolism work for you and not against your efforts. You merely to eat the correct foods (which I was able to choose) at the correct intervals. What I immediately liked about this diet was that I did NOT feel hungry.

You are encouraged to drink up to 10 glasses of water a day. In the past, with other weight loss programs, I found that difficult to accomplish. But, for whatever reason, I found it very easy to drink the water with this diet. (This also meant that I had to pee a lot, ha ha. Definitely something you will want to expect).

While the water intake might be a problem for some people (dependent upon their work or personal lifestyles), I found it a simple problem to get used to, especially knowing that with that water flowing out of my body a lot of pounds would also be flushing away.

I was instructed to eat my food slowly which has a tendency to keep you from eating so much. Because I work out of my home office, I started eating my meals at the computer, which usually made me eat much slower.

Fat Loss 4 Idiots Positives

Typically, with most diets, having any kind of condiments seems to be a problem. But with Fat Loss 4 Idiots there is a list of condiments that you can add to your meals.

They list ketchup as being "okay." But if you read the label on most ketchups you see that it contains a lot of high fructose corn syrup which just happens to be the worse kind of sugar you can put into your body. Therefore, I limited my use of ketchup.

Because they list salsa as being fine (and because most salsa is considered to help burn fat and it is often close to being a zero calorie food, I decided that I would add it in generous amounts to my diet. I used it on scrambled eggs and even on salads (in place of dressing) which gives the salad a Mexican flavoring.

In the past I have noticed that I can't eat much in the way of nuts or I will gain weight. They are a weakness for me. So I was very surprised to see that so many different kinds of nuts are available on this diet. Walnuts, peanuts, cashews, pistachio and even the fatty Macadamia nuts! So I definitely enjoyed those meals where I could scarf up the nuts.

You can actually drink wine on this diet. Only a glass a day, and it is not recommended, but you can do it. This might be a big plus for people who just want to add a little alcohol to their diet. If you purchase both ebooks you'll understand what is best for you when it comes to alcoholic products, but it is nice to at least have that freedom.

You can eat all that you want on this diet. There is no calorie counting or portion size limitations. However, you are encouraged to leave the table before you are satiated. If you "fill up" your tank to the brim, you are much more likely not to lose weight. I found that eating less per meal was actually much easier because I knew that I only had to wait for another two and a half hours before my next meal.

Once you understand the basic principles used in this diet, it becomes much easier to stay on it. I found myself really enjoying the process of dieting (how rare is that??) especially because I was losing weight and it wasn't difficult at all to do.

At the end of your eleven day diet cycle you are told that you MUST take a break. That's right. It's all part of the plan to keep your metabolism from locking in on what you're doing and start transforming some of your caloric intake back into fat. I found this break to be very refreshing.

How Did I Feel On the Fat Loss 4 Idiots Diet?

I firmly believe that on any diet, you have to listen to your body. It will quickly tell you if you are doing something "wrong" to your system.

Most diets make me feel bad, and like I said, I've been on them all. I get irritable; I get headaches; I have a difficult time sleeping.  It seems that the more unnatural chemicals are in a diet the quicker my body starts reacting to it. I found this diet immediately "different" from just about every past weight loss cure that I have tried.

The first day on this diet, as my system started to adjust, I did notice a "little" reaction. The 2 1/2 hour interval between my first and second meal seemed like an eternity. And for just a feel moments I remembered the feeling I used to get whenever I was on a low-carb diet. Perhaps it was what I ate for breakfast (scrambled eggs with cheese). But the feeling quickly passed when I was able to indulge in peanuts at my next meal. After that, I never had that "low-carb uneasy" feeling again.

Another advantage with this diet is that you can rearrange each days' menu any way that you like. I would look over the day to decide which meal I would like to start with and what foods I would like to end my day with. I'm sure that helped a lot in preventing any side effects.

On a few occasions on this diet, I did have slight headaches. But nothing really unusual. My energy level stayed up through out the entire time. I really had no problems at all. That was SO unusual for me compared with ALL past diets!

Because I was eating "normal" food — and not even having to hold down my level of calories — I seemed to have just as much energy as I ever do. And that was certainly a cause for me to rejoice. This diet just didn't "feel like a diet" . . . or at least not every other diet I've been on in the past.

I had none of the all-too-frequent side effects which have been attached to ALL of the other diets that I have been on in the past. None of those diets worked for very long for me, especially because I either couldn't deal with how weird they made me feel or because I was ravenous all of the time.

Is It Worth the Money?

Over the years I have spent a small fortune to get my appetites and my weight under control. Was it worth the money to purchase this diet? You better believe it was! I just wish that I had found these diets sooner (because there really are three diets here).

But the only way you will actually know if this will work for you, of course, is to try it yourself. Even though it has worked very well for me, that doesn't mean it will work for you. But if I was you, I would sure give it a try.

I loved the diet. Not only did I lose weight, it didn't really feel that bad achieving those results! When we were researching this, I noticed that most of people writing testimonials claimed they lost a lot of weight and that it came off in a short time frame. So it is very likely if you try the diet that you will quickly know if it will work for you.

Fortunately, if it doesn't work, you won't have risked much because the program offers a full 60-day money back guarantee. So trying the diet presents no risk to your pocketbook, while it holds great potential for truly tightening your waistline (in the right way).

Because I really would like to lose a lot of weight, this diet has been a God send for me. For your own sake I hope you'll give it a try. I'm the kind of person who cannot "sell" anything that I don't believe in. And that makes this diet so easy for me to talk about. Because I believe in it so passionately. I'm telling all of my overweight friends about it! And believe me, that's just about EVERYONE I know. . .
